James “Jim” Barker
James “Jim” Barker is a long time Alaskan whose photography is well known across the state. Since the mid seventies Jim has provided professional photographic services from his studios in rural Alaska and now in Fairbanks Alaska. He provides documentary, corporate, and commercial photography, as well as photojournalism on location and in his the studio. Jim’s major projects include a book on Eskimo subsistence, documentation of scientists in Antarctica sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and a feature for Smithsonian magazine on arctic Ice Station SHEBA.
We have been fortunate enough to call Jim our friend. His special talents in photographing the Lodge at Black Rapids throughout its creation has helped showcase this unusual and extraordinary place. His attention to lighting is amazing. Jim’s email is jbarker call him at 479-2107.
